Uchuck III - Bow
Uchuck III - Bow
The MV Uchuck III, named after the Nootkan word for “healing waters,” has served the remote communities of Vancouver Island’s west coast for over 50 years. Originally built in 1942 as a WWII minesweeper, she was later converted to carry up to 100 passengers and 70 tons of cargo through Nootka Sound, Esperanza Inlet, and Kyuquot Sound. Outfitted with a lounge, coffee shop, and open-air deck, the vessel also offers unique experiences like wet launches for kayakers and scenic coastal tours. The Uchuck III replaced earlier vessels—Uchuck I and II—used by the Barkley Sound Transportation Co. to meet growing regional demand. Rebuilt with parts from multiple historic ships, she entered service in 1955 and was extensively modernized through a 12-year refit beginning in the 1980s. The Uchuck III continues to deliver freight and transport passengers year-round, preserving her legacy as a vital link to Vancouver Island’s rugged west coast. These fine art prints are the perfect alternative to an original. Printed right here on Vancouver Island, these prints have the look and feel of something I have painted myself.
Canvas Print
The natural texture of the canvas produces prints that are often hard to tell from the art original, and because they are not behind glass, offer stunning, rich-colour views from any angle. Award-winning breathing Color LYVE canvas, OBA free, truly archival, & carefully coated with satin coating, which are certified 100+ year archival by the Fine Art Trade Guild. Ready to hang with black side treatment. The stretcher bars are responsibly sourced from sustainable paulownia wood. This lightweight wood is sturdy, durable, and resistant to environmental changes. Canvas prints are a wonderful wall art option because they can look beautifully tailored without an external frame.
Fine Art Paper
“Elegance Velvet” paper is a cold press paper, featuring a subtle texture similar to that of cold pressed watercolor paper. It weighs 300 gsm, giving it a substantial, heavy feel. Made from 100% cotton rag, it is naturally acid-free and archival, making it a standard choice for professional Fine Art reproduction prints. Its longevity is rated for over 100 years. As with most modern prints and papers, when properly stored and framed, they typically exceed the official 100-year rating for fade resistance and durability.
